Custom Display Units
With
a collection of soapstone carvings to display and an angular room as
the canvas, this client faced a design predicament: “How can we best
display our collection in the available space?” JMF found the answer.
Using a gorgeous English sycamore – the same hardwood we used when
building cabinetry for a New York-based celebrity client – we designed
and built a three-tiered display system that covers every wall and
mimics the craftsmen-style motif in other parts of the home. Mortice
and tendon construction gives the look and feel of the highest quality
furniture, and under-cabinet lighting makes an artistic
statement. Visit our picture gallery for other project or fill out our project request form so we can help you realize your dreams.
"JMF had a good sense of what kind of wood would work well for
displaying our artwork," said the homeowner. "While we assumed we were
limited to the standards like maple, oak or cherry - what you find at a
home improvement store - JMF used their knowledge of hardwoods and
design sense to bring us an option that we never considered. The
interesting grain and color of the English sycamore works beautifully,
and we love the results."
